Halperin is stirring shit up again (2.00 / 1)

Check out thepage.com.  These "advisers" certainly have an agenda when they show such courage by talking anonymously to reporters about their former bosses' feelings.  At least John Weaver had the guts to put his name on paper when he slammed John McCain.

Nevertheless, the link to that first video of HRC at the "unity" fundraiser is her raw and real though.  Probably more Obama supporters here would be wise to take the lady's advice.

The wife's away, so I'm back to bachelor life -- a cheeseburger (she's mostly veggie), Halo, SportsCenter, and Star Trek.

God I am one big stereotype.

Obama snubbed Bill Clinton (1.66 / 3)

for a dinner, catfish wrote a great diary, and now its gone. It should not be. Obama is pretty arrogant and smug to snub the only two term Democrat he's been alive for.

by Lakrosse on Thu Aug 07, 2008 at 01:02:25 AM EST

Lakrosse, this constant sniping back and forth (none / 0)

between us is not helping. This is just divisive. Please join us to take over WH, Senate and Congress this November..

I'm mojo-ing you to find a positive response..

bet you never heard of honor (1.50 / 2)

which is what one must have for an elite former President. Obama is above honor.

Face it, nobody who is sane gives a damn about some snub you imagine in your bitterness.

I expect Obama to be a two-term president. (none / 0)

He'll be the first two-term Democratic president in your lifetime that hasn't been impeached.

go fuck yourself. (1.66 / 3)

really, please do so. If you really wanna hit Bill for the fact the Republicans tried to take him out, please, go to Freeperland.

Re: go fuck yourself. (2.00 / 1)

Obama is pretty arrogant and smug to snub the only two term Democrat he's been alive for.

And if you want to give the Republicans an assist in their attempts at taking out the only democrat who's running for President now (not 16 years ago), then maybe you should hold the door open for him.  And fuck off while you're doing it.

Lakrosse, you're kind of ridiculously devoted to saving Bill Clinton's honor against all sorts of perceived attacks.  Are you interested in anything else?

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Although this constant media thing over the race is getting annoying...CNN had a headline going "Obama squeaks by McCain in new poll"...now when I hear "squeaks by" i think, 1,2 pt lead...3 maybe...but 5?!? 5 points?!?!.....but anyway as much as it's getting annoying the anytime a new poll comes out, it always has to have some negative connotation to it, i do think Obama needs to start going a little more negative.

Negative advertising works.

Sad to say, but true...now I don't think full out "McCain wants to abduct your children, smack his wife and label them all c*nts"....but I do think the connection between him and GW needs to be advertised harder along with more ads trying to portray McCain as a constant negative old man

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

I did just see Obama's new ad with showing McCain being giddy over proclaiming he's voted with the president over 90% of the time, so it's a very good step in the right direction in terms of advertising.

I think the best way to attack McCain (none / 0)

is to link him (and all Republicans) to oil.  Link the war to oil.  Most people already think the war was all about oil, although, to be honest, I find that too simplistic.  But it's a wonderful metaphor waiting to be exploited.

And I loved what McCain said today.  "We need an ECONOMIC SURGE!"  I laughed out loud when I heard that.  Much later, I was in the kitchen, when I heard my brother roaring with laughter.  I went into the living room and asked what's so funny on TV?  "This asshole just said he wants an Economic Surge!"

Re: I think the best way to attack McCain (2.00 / 1)

I laughed too. McCain thinks running for President is about who has the best schtick.

Re: Thanks for pulling that really stupid diary (2.00 / 1)

I'm glad I missed that one.  I can't figure out why anyone is interested in discussing that story.

I want to thank whoever it is who decided to remove the "Obama won't go to dinner with Clinton" diary, whether it was the diarist or a moderator.

I doubt it was the diarist, because the piece is still up on Alegre's corner.

Our McTrolls need all the help they can get! (2.00 / 1)

A Guide to the Sleaziest (and Most Contradictory) Smears on the Dem Nominee

Each election cycle, we're exposed to editorial-page tooth-gnashing about the media's relentless focus on political personalities over issues. While everyone is meant to make frowny-faces over this, for the GOP, it's the natural state of affairs. After all, its positions on the issues aren't going to win any elections: Help the rich get richer, ignore anyone who's hurt by economic downturns, deny people medical care, promote cultural division, and keep supporting a highly unpopular war. That's a whole lot of hard sells, right there; why go to the public with that when you can just accuse your opponent of being the Antichrist?

Such has been the approach of the GOP for the last 25 years or so, and it worked so well with Bill Clinton (well, except for the little detail of him winning two elections), Republicans see no reason to change the script for Barack Obama. Through their reliable toadies of the Internet, the local GOP apparatchiks, and the wingnut-welfare media, they're pulling out all the stops to make sure everyone in America knows that the Democratic candidate for president is located on a moral compass somewhere northwest of Adolf Hitler and southeast of Osama bin Laden.

Unfortunately, many undecided voters are perplexed. They detect a certain inconsistency to the Right's attacks on "B. Hussein Obama," and they aren't quite sure what they're meant to hate him for. Is he a radical Islamist terrorist, or a reverse-racist Christian fanatic? Is he a fist-bumping ghetto gangsta, or an arugula-munching metrosexual elitist? Is he too black, or not black enough? In this guide to the perplexed, we'll help our right-wing brethren get their stories straight by laying out the case (however bogus) against Obama, noting its flaws and strengths, and giving friendly, well-meaning advice about where they should go from here....

Re: Our McTrolls need all the help they can get! (none / 0)

Attacks don't have to be consistent, sadly.  Remember how John Kerry was the biggest liberal EVAH, and also how no one knew what his position really was on anything?  Head scratcher there!

How come kingsbridge's diary was deleted?  Assuming that's the missing spot on the rec list.

I mean, not that I'm complaining.

I think the missing spot is the catfish2 diary.  I'm not quite sure why it's gone, it's not nearly as bad as lots of stuff that gets through around here, although I'm happy to see it gone.
